Hernando Audubon Meeting: “The Florida Wildlife Corridor: What It Means for Florida and the Nature Coast”
The Florida Wildlife Corridor is one of the most ambitious conservation projects in Florida’s history. The corridor seeks to connect vast portions of Wild Florida for far-ranging wildlife like panthers and bears, and ensure future generations can share a Florida with the wildlife that defines our state. Our speaker will share how we can support the corridor and the impact it will have on the Nature Coast.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, September 25, at 7 p.m. at Brooksville Woman’s Club, 131 S. Main Street, Brooksville. Free, open to all. Information: [email protected] or 904-303-0919
Hernando Audubon Bird Walk at McKethan Lake, 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 20.
McKethan Lake is at 15185 North Broad Street, north of Brooksville. Meet in the parking lot on the left, just inside the entrance. We will walk about 1.5 miles on a trail through the hardwood hammock and observe the lake, marsh, and wetland prairie. We expect to view a variety of birds, including waterfowl, herons, egrets, songbirds, and raptors.
